During National Rehabilitation Week held Sept. 20-26, HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Sarasota will join rehabilitation providers across the nation in celebration of Passport to Independence, highlighting effective ways to guide patients to their ultimate goal of going home.
The week is observed with events and activities to promote rehabilitation and those that make a difference in the lives of patients receiving rehabilitation services. Patients and employees will be invited to celebrate National Rehabilitation Week at the annual patient reunion on Wednesday, Sept. 23 from 2:30- 4 p.m. in the hospital dining room which is located at 6400 Edgelake Drive in Sarasota.
Travel industry consultant and special needs advocate, Linda Odom, will offer a presentation on traveling with disabilities. It’s important for patients with disabilities and medical conditions and their families to know how to prepare for travel.
“Getting patients to their destination of independence is our mission at HealthSouth Sarasota,” said Marcus Braz, HealthSouth Sarasota CEO. “National Rehabilitation Week provides a great opportunity for our hospital to provide the community with information and precautions when traveling while highlighting the various clinicians and experts who help our patients reach their individual goals.”
