HealthSouth Sarasota Celebrates National Rehabilitation Week with Special Events

9/15/2016

HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Sarasota will join rehabilitation providers across the nation Sept. 18-24, 2016, in celebration of National Rehabilitation Week with the theme “The Power of Rehabilitation.” At HealthSouth Sarasota, the week will be highlighted by various events and activities at the hospital. With comprehensive, patient-centered therapy, rehabilitation is a powerful force for patients overcoming challenges after an illness or injury.

Employees, patients and patient families are invited to visit the hospital, located less than a mile east of I-75 and B-Ridge Road, on Monday, Sept. 19 at 11:30 a.m. for the hospital’s annual 30th Anniversary Celebration featuring a ribbon cutting ceremony, with special recognition by Sarasota County Commissioner Charles Hines, an open house and hospital tours. Attendees can also register to vote all day.

On Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 2:30 – 4 p.m., former HealthSouth Sarasota patients are invited to join staff members for a patient reunion at the hospital. The week will wrap up with the hospital’s annual Classic Car Show on Friday, Sept. 23 featuring incredible vehicles, food and refreshments, a bounce house for children, raffles and prizes and “Candy Girl” from WSRZ.

National Rehabilitation Awareness Week was established in 1976 to create awareness of people with disabilities and promote the benefits of rehabilitation. In 1990, a presidential proclamation designated the third week of September as National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, which has grown to include more than 7,000 organizations.
