New Support Group in Venice to Boost Conversation About Life After Stroke and Brain Injury
A new support group for stroke and brain injury survivors and their caregivers is coming to the Venice area. The support group, sponsored by HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Sarasota along with Venice Regional Bayfront Health, will help those who have endured these conditions and their caregivers, engage in conversation and share helpful information with others in similar situations. Beginning on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, the group will meet on the third Thursday of each month at 2 p.m. in the Venice Lions Club Community Room at the Venice Healthpark located at 1289 Jacaranda Blvd. in Venice.
There are many benefits of a support group for survivors and their caregivers which include:
- Helping the survivor and caregiver realize that they are not alone
- Having a network of others with whom the survivor can comfortably share successes and concerns
- Sharing treatments ideas and resources
- Discovering tips to make life easier
- Reducing stress and apprehension
The group’s mission is to support, encourage, educate and enlighten stroke and brain injury survivors. Guest speakers are provided to help guide and connect the group with individuals they can share with, lean on and count on.
